Caterina Sbrana recovers the ancient technique of the spolvero in many of her ceramic artworks. With this technicque drawings and decorations can be transferred on ceramics, as on other surfaces, through preparatory sketches perforated with a metal tip from which the powdered pigment can filter.
In her research, as in this series of plates to hang, made for Dépendance Studio17, the pigment is not covered by the drawing, it is no longer a preparatory phase, but it becomes the very backbone of the drawing, a phase of fragility, an in might step that Caterina leaves uncovered and fixes on the ceramic.
