Still life for Goat, cabbage and rose
collaboration with Cesare Grandi, chef, La Limonaia Torino
this collaboration with the chef Cesare Grandi was born from the still lifes for the table designed by Caterina Sbrana presented by Studio17 in 2012 during the first edition of Tavole Imbandite and winners in 2015 of the award for table design of the Museo della Ceramica di Montelupo.
The skull of of a goat made in ceramic, a reminiscence of the baroque still lifes and of the anatomical studies, becomes a container for Cesare Grandi’s dish Capra, cabbage and rose.
The result comes from a dense correspondence, sketches, tests of materials and proportions, from a dialogue between three creative minds an two creative ateliers: the chef’s kitchen and the workshop of the two artists, two places about experimentation and transformation, different and in many aspects so close.
